Laptop Hard Drive Replacement
Hard drive failure is one of the most common problems with laptops.
If you have been able to create a set of recovery discs, these discs can be used to return your laptop to its original, out-of-the-box (brand-new) condition. These discs will not only reinstall the operating system, but also will install the drivers for all the hardware, the original programs which were installed at the factory, and brings the laptop back to the state it was in when brand new.
If you did not create a set of recovery discs, all is not necessarily lost. If you still have the Microsoft Windows Certificate of Authenticity (COA) on the system, the operating system can be re-installed using an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) operating system disc. That disc will prompt for the code on the COA sticker. If the right disc is used (the disc and the COA must match), the operating system can be loaded and activated. Laptop manufacturers will make available on their websites the drivers for the laptops they sell. So, the drivers can be downloaded and installed onto the laptop.
Recovery discs can be ordered from the manufacturer. These discs will function the same as the ones you would have been able to create when the laptop was in working order.
